Workshop Leader

In 2017, Tim was selected as the Wigmore Hall Trainee Music Leader, a prestigious scheme that develops a musician’s skills leading across a wide variety of projects.

Since then, Tim has gone on to lead workshops for leading Arts organisations including the Royal Academy of Music, Southbank Sinfonia, Streetwise Opera, Music at Oxford and the National Youth Orchestra Inspire programme, as well as continuing his work with Wigmore Learning.

Early Years

Tim has a postgraduate qualification in Early Years Education and is passionate about the importance of play when working with young children. He has been a leader for workshops at Wigmore Hall, the Royal Academy of Music, Southbank Sinfonia and Gloucester Academy of Music.

In addition to his workshop experience, Tim has also worked as a nursery practitioner and reception class teacher.

Schools

Tim has a wide range of experience leading creative music projects in primary schools and has a particular passion for facilitating group song writing workshops. As an accomplished pianist and improviser, he is able to respond to children’s musical ideas in the moment and build songs on the spot. He has led projects for the Open Academy (Royal Academy of Music), RCM Sparks, Wigmore Hall’s Partner Schools programme, Spitalfields Music, and Music at Oxford.

During the pandemic, Tim completed a Primary PGCE and developed an in depth and practical understanding of the National Curriculum. He is also working towards the British Kodaly Academy’s Primary certificate and uses singing and musicianship games at the heart of his workshops.

People Living with Dementia

Tim has worked extensively as part of the Music for Life team, Wigmore Hall’s pioneering programme for people living with dementia. He has led projects in care homes and community settings and been part of the team leading Singing with Friends, Wigmore’s choir for families living with dementia.

Musician Development

Tim has worked with various organisations to develop their musicians’ workshop skills with a particular focus on group improvisation. He has delivered workshops for orchestral musicians in Southbank Sinfonia and the National Youth Orchestra’s Inspire programme and worked as a mentor of the Open Academy Fellowship programme at the Royal Academy of Music.
